This beautiful necklace has been made with sea glass that I have collected from my local beach in Wellington. The glass has been carefully drilled and then displayed on a delicate sterling silver chain with sterling silver findings. This necklace has two pieces of triangular shaped sea-glass. The bottom is a thick piece of ice white and the top a lovely standout pale blue. The blue is difficult to find and I often wonder what it was before it became a jewel in the sea. This is a very pretty and unusual necklace; the blue pieces are particularly difficult to find making a lovely piece of Kiwi remade treasure.
I think that the combination of silver and sea glass is very beautiful and the glass, discarded without thought into the sea has now been tossed by the waves and washed ashore as a frosted beauty. Each piece has a special history. I remember as a child collecting sea glass and believing it was a precious gem – now it is a delight to make sea-glass from my local Wellington beach into stunning jewellery.
The chain is 17 inches long. The ice white sea-glass triangle is 2.8cm across the bottom and is 2.7 cm high.
The necklace comes with an authenticating tag that it was made by me in Wellington NZ and a black velvet dust pouch.
