These earrings use original Australian Postage Stamps of the Ulysses Butterfly, printed in 1981. This stamp is part of a beautiful butterfly series featuring the butterfly and a specimen plant. The stunning blue of this butterfly is as striking on the stamp as it is in the wild. The Papilio Ulysses, the Ulysses butterfly, is a large swallowtail butterfly of Australia, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. Its size varies depending on subspecies, but the wingspan is about 10.5 cm (4.1 in) in Queensland. Due to its beauty and size it has been used as the emblem of tourism Queensland in Australia.
Each stamp is different and may show a little of the postmark which is quite a lovely addition.
Earrings are made with the original stamp treated set under glass. They come in a range of beautiful hypoallergenic settings. Choose from a French Lever Back Style or an Elegant Drop. The drop earrings have rubber stoppers on them to prevent loss.
Your earrings will be presented on a card that explains their special qualities before being gift wrapped and carefully packaged.
